SLOWERBLACK
documentary short - 2018 - 8 Minutes
A visually arresting short documentary film about celebrated tattoo artist Jenna Bouma, better known as Slowerblack. Jenna uses a generations-old technique without the help of electricity or machinery, commonly known as hand-poked tattooing. As the technique has grown in popularity, Jenna continues to challenge herself with larger pieces, while still honoring the history of her craft.
Featuring the music of PJ Harvey, the film played film festivals around the country before premiering online on the art and culture website, Nowness.
